Urban Decay Naked Palette Review

Hey everyone, today I’m back with a review on the cult favourite Urban Decay Naked palette.

Urban Decay finally launched in Australia at Mecca Maxima earlier this year and I was super excited to pick something up from the brand, I was umming and ahhing over what I wanted to get and finally settled on getting the beauty community’s number one love, the original naked palette.

There are currently three naked palettes from the brand but I decided to go with the original as the colours in this palette appealed to me the most.

Swatched left to right

Virgin

Side Car

Half Baked

Creep

Gun Metal

I’ll start by saying I really like this palette, I think the colours are really wearable for both day and night. The formula is nice, I did find that creep wasn’t super pigmented when swatched but is able to be built up on the eye to make it a little more pigmented, and the more lighter shimmery shades and very pretty on the eye.

As much as I do really like this palette I unfortunately don’t think its worth the $78 AUD.

The colours are really pretty and neutral and for that reason I think it’s a lot of money for something that is just that, neutral. and I’m not finding that I’m reaching for it as much as I thought I would which is a bummer.

If you are on the hunt for a neutral palette I find I use my Too faced chocolate palette a lot more and it’s a little cheaper.

Do you have the Naked palette, what do you think? let me know in the comments.

Australis Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder Review

Hey everyone, today I’m back with a review on the Australis Fresh and Flawless pressed powder foundation.

Photo 14-04-2015 11 28 58 am (1)

This powder is a known cult favourite amongst the Australian beauty blogging/vlogging community and I wasn’t so sure I was going to try it out since I was so attached to my Rimmel stay matte pressed powder, but a  trip to Priceline got the better of me (as it usually does) and I picked it up along with some lip liners, because who ever comes out with only one thing? not me that’s for sure.

This powder retails for $11.95 AUD from Priceline, who are currently having a 3 for 2 on all Australis products on their website.

There are three colours to choose from, dark brown, natural and deep natural. I chose the colour dark brown and find it matches my olive toned skin nicely. but could really match someone with even fairer skin as it is quite a nice beige shade.

As soon as I set my foundation with this powder I could see why it is so loved, it feels so silky smooth on the skin and blends like a dream. I love using this powder over all of my foundations but especially my heavier liquid foundations as it does give some extra coverage but doesn’t ever look cakey, so it’s perfect for occasions when you know you’ll be photographed.

I like to use my Real Techniques buffing brush to buff it into my skin to give a nice airbrushed finish. I definitely think this powder could take the place of my Rimmel stay matte pressed powder just because the formula is so nice.

Have you tried this pressed powder, do you like it? let me know in the comments

Essence XXXL Matt Effect lipgloss review

Hey everyone, today I’m back with a review on the Essence Matte effect lip gloss.

I picked up the colours 06 Soft Nude and 07 Silky red

Let me start by saying I love these lip glosses, they are so silky smooth on the lips. I wouldn’t say they were very matte though, but they also definitely aren’t a gloss which is tricky. In my opinion the best way to describe the finish is more like satin.

The above swatches have been applied directly from the tube with no lip liner.

The glosses are a little slippery on the lips, not to be confused with the Australis Velour Lips which set like concrete. These don’t really set at all, which I personally quite like as a change from the usual matte lip glosses that are on the market, but if you’re looking for a product that won’t budge then these probably won’t be for you.

I picked my glosses up at Priceline and can’t find them on the site for the life of me, but I don’t think they were any more than $6 AUD if that. My local store had 3 colours but was out of stock of the other shade.

Like I said, I really like these glosses and think they’re perfect as a ‘throw on and go’ lip product, easy to apply and smell great!

OXX Makeup review

He everyone, today I’m back with a review on the OXX makeup found in Kmart Australia stores.

Photo 19-03-2015 1 07 49 pm

While out browsing the makeup section in Kmart (as you do) something caught my eye, it was a stand filled with makeup with a $2 price tag, my legs started moving and before I could even register what I was seeing I had walked out the store with more makeup than I needed. (let’s be real, I always need more makeup)

Since we are transitioning into colder weather just like with fashion, make-up changes as well. So I’ve been looking for some warm toned blush and was thrilled to see some warmer neutrals on display. I picked up a blush and eyeshadow (because why not?)  both for $2.

Photo 19-03-2015 1 10 15 pm

Eye shadow left – The eyeshadow is a really nice brown shade with little flecks of gold glitter through it, which once on the eye you don’t really see. It’s really pretty and is nicely pigmented.

I used this all over the eye on it’s own and it lasted really well throughout the day.

Blush right – The blush is a pretty dusty pink that throws off a little taupe in different lighting.

It does take a little more time to blend and layer to get a nice colour pay off but that didn’t really worry me given the price point.

Unfortunately neither of these products have ‘names’ so if you do go searching for the same products I think these may be the only neutral shades available.

OXX brand also has eyeliner, mascaras, lipsticks and other shadow shades all for $2 each.

Over all I think that these are worth taking a look at if you’re looking to try a cheap makeup alternative to the usual cult favourites.

Have you tried OXX makeup, what did you think? let me know in the comments.

Australian Autumn/Winter Fashion

Hi everyone, today I’m back with two looks that I’ve styled for Autumn/Winter.

As we are coming into the colder months in Australia which unfortunately means packing away our bright sun dresses and sandals and opting for woollen coats & thick knitted skirts, here I’ve styled two looks that I think are perfect for the colder months and can incorporate some pieces of clothing you may already have in your wardrobe.

I think for Autumn/Winter fashion layers always look great, so for my first outfit I opted for a long sleeved turtle neck under a short sleeved cape. This look would be great for days when it’s not so chilly that you need a heavy coat.

I’ve opted for pumps with this outfit but knee-high boots with a thick heel would be perfect as well. Add a knitted scarf and you’re on your way.

For my second outfit I’ve paired a silk cami with a tube skirt and added a coat. I love this look as it adds a feminine aspect with the cami and adding the grey coat gives it texture and most importantly keeps you warm. I have opted for a heel here as well, you could also pair this look with boots.

Colours and textures to look out for when shopping;

White

Black

Cream

Navy

Leather & Leather dresses (faux leather for me)

Silk blouses

& Booties.

This is just a small guide to getting your wardrobe Autumn/Winter ready and as always you add your own flair. if you want to wear bright pink and neon through winter then you do you boo.

Styling A Tube Skirt

Hey everyone, today I’m back with how I style a tube skirt for Summer.

Photo 25-01-2015 7 49 17 pm

Photo via Polyvore – Styled by me.

Today i’ve styled two outfits that I think could take you from lunch with friends, to dinner and drinks easily. I’ve stayed within a very clean monochromatic palette which I think is perfect, as a tube skirt can be worn time and time again and can quickly become a staple piece.

Here I’ve paired both skirts with a cami style top which I think pairs perfectly, but could of course be paired however you want. A simple black crop top or a turtle neck tucked in would look lovely for the colder months.

I am absolutely loving these looks for any occasion, they’re effortlessly chic and feminine and the best part is that you could achieve this look without breaking the bank, Here are some on asos.com.au that are lovely and affordable.

Would you wear these outfits? let me know in the comments.
