Urban Decay Naked Palette Review

Hey everyone, today I’m back with a review on the cult favourite Urban Decay Naked palette.

Photo 13-05-2015 11 15 31 am (1)

Urban Decay finally launched in Australia at Mecca Maxima earlier this year and I was super excited to pick something up from the brand, I was umming and ahhing over what I wanted to get and finally settled on getting the beauty community’s number one love, the original naked palette.

There are currently three naked palettes from the brand but I decided to go with the original as the colours in this palette appealed to me the most.

Swatched left to right

Virgin

Side Car

Half Baked

Creep

Gun Metal

I’ll start by saying I really like this palette, I think the colours are really wearable for both day and night. The formula is nice, I did find that creep wasn’t super pigmented when swatched but is able to be built up on the eye to make it a little more pigmented, and the more lighter shimmery shades and very pretty on the eye.

As much as I do really like this palette I unfortunately don’t think its worth the $78 AUD.

The colours are really pretty and neutral and for that reason I think it’s a lot of money for something that is just that, neutral. and I’m not finding that I’m reaching for it as much as I thought I would which is a bummer.

If you are on the hunt for a neutral palette I find I use my Too faced chocolate palette a lot more and it’s a little cheaper.

Do you have the Naked palette, what do you think? let me know in the comments.

Ulta3 Colour Me Pretty Lipstick Crayon Review

Hey everyone, today I’m back with a review on the Ulta3 Colour Me Pretty Lipstick Crayon in the colours Pretty Poppy and Pretty Affair.

Photo 16-02-2015 3 31 01 pm

I love these two lip crayons, they are smooth to apply and glossy on the lip.

Pretty Poppy.

Pretty Poppy is a really beautiful orange/red shade that is super easy to wear. I find myself reaching for this lip shade when I’m wearing hardly any make up and am running errands because it just makes it look like you’ve made some effort when really.. you’ve just rolled out of bed after sleeping through your alarm and your backup alarm..

Pretty Affair

Pretty Affair is a gorgeous blue based red/berry shade which is just as smooth and creamy as pretty poppy, again another wearable colour and would be perfect for the colder months as it is a tad darker.

What I love most about these lip products is that they are so easy to apply, comfortable on the lips and glossy. I think Ulta3 have done a bang up job on these products and at the price point of $4.95 AUD how can you go wrong?

There are 6 shades in the and I think I might just have to pick up the others!

have you tried these out? let me know in the comments

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette Review

Hi everyone, happy new year and welcome to my first post for 2015! Today I’m back with a review on the Too Faced Chocolate bar palette

closed palette

Let me start by saying that this palette is so nice, I have found all the shadows to be so creamy and well pigmented and think that there is such a great assortment of shadows in the one palette.

open palette

Here I have swatched from L to R

Salted Caramel

A cool toned matte brown

White Chocolate

A matte cream shadow

Marzipan

a beautiful shimmery champagne shade

Cherry Cordial

A deep redy purple shade with flecks of glitter in it

swatches

All of these shadows have been swatched as is, without any primer and as you can see they are all pretty well pigmented. I think this palette is perfect whether you’re just starting out with makeup and want to branch out, or if you are a professional adding to your kit this palette will not disappoint (It even smells like chocolate how could you resist!)

I love this palette and have been testing it under all sorts of conditions and love it! just recently I took this palette away with me on holidays and I didn’t find myself needing anything else on my lids as I found this held all the colours I needed.

I purchased my palette off Myqty.com.au for $64.99 AUD and you are able to get it here. Trust me, you’ll love it!

Do you own this palette, what do you think of it? let me know in the comments

close up eye

I started out by brushing fawn all over my lid as a base and blended camel into my crease, I then used the deep teal shade to map out where I wanted my wing to be. I used a small synthetic brush and in small sections I dabbed on lash glue, and using a wet small brush I picked up the green glitter and placed it on the glue, I did this until the wing was covered in the green glitter. (You could use a black liner to map out the wing, but I found that using a similar shade to the glitter you’re using just means that if you do see any of the shadow/liner, it will blend in)

I took a little bit of the teal, and the dark brown shade and blended that on my lower lash line and prepped my lashes for falsies. For this look I used my biggest and most dramatic lashes, but to make this look a little more wearable you could use a wispy lash.

I buffed in my foundation, and filled in my brows as usual and contoured my cheeks, I then used a muted rose blush shade, and a rose gold highlight to finish off my skin. I kept my skin very neutral as I wanted most of the attention on my eyes. I finished off my look with a a bright red glossy lip using Limecrimes retrofuturist all over and dabbing the LA girl glazed lip paint in the center.

edit eye closed

I had so much fun with this look, and you could change the colour of the glitter to make this suitable for a New Years Eve look.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Review

Hi everyone, today I’m back with a review on the Garnier micellar cleansing water.
Photo 22-11-2014 8 43 15 pm

I’ve seen a few reviews on this product, but like with most things I wanted to trial it myself.

Here’s what Garnier say

For the 1st time by Garnier, Micellar technology is introduced in an all-in-one cleanser. Micells are an active cleansing ingredient which act as a magnet to capture impurities, make-up and sebum on the skin without vigorous rubbing. The result? Perfectly cleansed and refreshed skin without vigorous rubbing or rinsing. A soothing formula without perfume to suit all skin types, even sensitive. Micellar Cleansing Water’s 400mL format corresponds to 200 applications (on a cotton pad).

Ophthalmologically and dermatologically tested.

This stuff is amazing! it should be called miracle water instead because it takes off every scrap of makeup without stinging your face. I use this on a cotton pad after I’ve taken off my makeup with a wipe I let it sit on my eye to get off any stubborn mascara or liner. You can literally swipe once and it will all come off.

I then will use another cotton pad and just wipe it over my face to get off any foundation as well. I will then cleanse as normal.

I’ve heard that the Micellar water is a dupe for the Bioderma, well I can tell you that in Australia Bioderma will set you back about $39 AUD and the Micellar water is about $11 AUD on sale at Priceline now for $8.39 AUD. I can’t comment on the Bioderma but for the price you just can’t go wrong with this gem.

Have you tried this product, do you  like it or hate it? let me know in the comments

Who won the skeleton beauty contest?

No Body…

Hey everyone, today I’m back with a quick halloween look!

It is coming up to that spooky time of the year for all my American readers, and I have put together a super easy skull look (an oldy but a goody)

Skull 1

My Photo inspiration

skull_makeup_by_lekstedt-d67k5jf

What I used

Good quality water based face paint (I got mine from Spotlight)

Synthetic face paint brushes

Generic eyeshadow palette

I am a little bit of a cheater though, because I only used a little bit of makeup and the rest was face paint.

I started out by wiping my face and applying some moisturiser and let it sink in, I then used the glue stick method to flatten my brows so they could be covered with the face paint. I used a large synthetic brush to start painting my face white.

IMG_5817

Now you could stop there because that is seriously scary

Please also be so careful around your eyes when using this face paint I cannot stress this enough. I was just slapping it all on my face and near my eyes and then I had issues, my eyes started watering and it started breaking up the paint on my cheek so then I was getting more paint and was trying to pat it on top of where the paint was breaking up. I finally got it all to sit okay. I followed this by getting a large shader brush and patting white eyeshadow on the more problem areas to try and conceal.

Then very carefully using a thinner smaller synthetic face paint brush I took the black face paint and mapped out my eyes, and then painted that all black. I got this in my eye AGAIN (I seriously do not learn) and so I got a black tear streak down my face. I thought it was all over and was about to pack it in but I just kept painting my eye and let the streak dry. once it was I got another small clean brush and then packed on the white face paint over the black.

I then used the sponge that came with my paint kit to dab more white over the area to make sure it was all blended.

Again taking a very thin brush I started mapping out the teeth, nose and hollows of the cheek. once the teeth were all mapped out and the hollows filled in I then mixed amy paints together to make a light grey colour and started adding shadows where I thought I needed it. also marking out my temples and darkening my mouth.

Finish the outfit off with a black robe and some black fabric over your head and you too can literally look like death.

I had so much fun putting this look together, and plan to be more organised next year so I can do a few more!

Styling Distressed Denim Jeans

Hey everyone, today I’m back with 3 different ways to style distressed denim jeans.

I’ve shown you how to take a plain pair for jeans from drab to fab here, now I’ve put together some cute outfit ideas for the Spring/Summer months ahead of us.

FullSizeRender

Photo via Polyvore – Styled by me

I love these three outfits because they can be laid back for a day out shopping, and then dressed up with a tailored blazer for a night out. I love the little pops of colour in each one. And I think the backpack for the third outfit makes it so fun.

You could also add a camel coloured coat to the second outfit and swap the mint green necklace for a gold chunky chain, and booties for a more fall appropriate look for those of you coming into the cooler months.

Distressed denim is huge this season and I am really loving it, and have been living in my jeans.
