Australis Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder Review

Hey everyone, today I’m back with a review on the Australis Fresh and Flawless pressed powder foundation.

This powder is a known cult favourite amongst the Australian beauty blogging/vlogging community and I wasn’t so sure I was going to try it out since I was so attached to my Rimmel stay matte pressed powder, but a  trip to Priceline got the better of me (as it usually does) and I picked it up along with some lip liners, because who ever comes out with only one thing? not me that’s for sure.

This powder retails for $11.95 AUD from Priceline, who are currently having a 3 for 2 on all Australis products on their website.

There are three colours to choose from, dark brown, natural and deep natural. I chose the colour dark brown and find it matches my olive toned skin nicely. but could really match someone with even fairer skin as it is quite a nice beige shade.

As soon as I set my foundation with this powder I could see why it is so loved, it feels so silky smooth on the skin and blends like a dream. I love using this powder over all of my foundations but especially my heavier liquid foundations as it does give some extra coverage but doesn’t ever look cakey, so it’s perfect for occasions when you know you’ll be photographed.

I like to use my Real Techniques buffing brush to buff it into my skin to give a nice airbrushed finish. I definitely think this powder could take the place of my Rimmel stay matte pressed powder just because the formula is so nice.

Styling A Tube Skirt

Hey everyone, today I’m back with how I style a tube skirt for Summer.

Photo 25-01-2015 7 49 17 pm

Photo via Polyvore – Styled by me.

Today i’ve styled two outfits that I think could take you from lunch with friends, to dinner and drinks easily. I’ve stayed within a very clean monochromatic palette which I think is perfect, as a tube skirt can be worn time and time again and can quickly become a staple piece.

Here I’ve paired both skirts with a cami style top which I think pairs perfectly, but could of course be paired however you want. A simple black crop top or a turtle neck tucked in would look lovely for the colder months.

I am absolutely loving these looks for any occasion, they’re effortlessly chic and feminine and the best part is that you could achieve this look without breaking the bank, Here are some on asos.com.au that are lovely and affordable.

Would you wear these outfits? let me know in the comments.

I started out by brushing fawn all over my lid as a base and blended camel into my crease, I then used the deep teal shade to map out where I wanted my wing to be. I used a small synthetic brush and in small sections I dabbed on lash glue, and using a wet small brush I picked up the green glitter and placed it on the glue, I did this until the wing was covered in the green glitter. (You could use a black liner to map out the wing, but I found that using a similar shade to the glitter you’re using just means that if you do see any of the shadow/liner, it will blend in)

I took a little bit of the teal, and the dark brown shade and blended that on my lower lash line and prepped my lashes for falsies. For this look I used my biggest and most dramatic lashes, but to make this look a little more wearable you could use a wispy lash.

I buffed in my foundation, and filled in my brows as usual and contoured my cheeks, I then used a muted rose blush shade, and a rose gold highlight to finish off my skin. I kept my skin very neutral as I wanted most of the attention on my eyes. I finished off my look with a a bright red glossy lip using Limecrimes retrofuturist all over and dabbing the LA girl glazed lip paint in the center.

Australis AC On Tour Contour Kit Review

Hey everyone, today I’m back with a review on the highly sought after Australis Contour Kit.

Photo 5-12-2014 4 27 26 pm

In this kit you get six shades a lighter shade, a yellow toned shade a champagne highlighter and 3 darker sculpting shades all in rather large pans.

Photo 5-12-2014 4 28 37 pm

Let me start out by saying that these powders are so buttery and blend out like a dream, considering the price point for this product I wasn’t expecting it to be as great as it is!

Photo 5-12-2014 4 23 30 pm

To contour my face I use a Real Techniques contour brush and a large powder brush.

Using the large powder brush I dust the yellow shade under my eyes to brighten the area and then use the contour brush, the medium and darkest shades in the hollows of my cheeks, temple, forehead and the left over is dusted on my jawline.

The effect is a beautiful natural shadow that makes your face look more defined and put together. I find that I am able to get a great effect using this palette with and without foundation underneath.

For the hotter days I finish my look off with a dusting of bronzer and a bright blush over my cheeks to really amp it up.

This palette is sold in Priceline for $16.95 AUD and they sell like hotcakes so make sure you ring your local store to make sure they have them or order online.

Behind Blue Eyes

Hey everyone, today I’m back with a really pretty summer look on my beautiful friend Amber.

Products used

NYX eyeshadow primer

NYX Dream catcher palette

ChiChi Cosmetics bronzes palette

Elf cool palette

Individual flare lashes

Elf dark brown brow kit

Maybelline The falsies big eyes mascara

Generic concealer palette

MAC Match master foundation

Mac Mineralize skin finish powder

W7 Bronzer

LA girl glazed lip paints in blushing

I started out by cleansing Ambers skin with a makeup wipe and then patting the eyeshadow primer all over her eyelid and lower lash line, I then used the matte beige shade from the NYX dream catcher palette all over the lid, followed by the copper shade from the ChiChi bronzes palette over the middle of the eyelid and blending it in circular motions outwards and upwards. I then took the light gold shade and blended that into the copper shade on the outer and inner corners of Ambers eyes. I then tapped a dome brush in the matte brown shade from the ChiChi palette and blended that in a circular motion to blend the lighter metallic toned shadows together.

I then took the navy blue shade from the Elf palette and placed that on Ambers lower lash line a little over half way, and then blended it down. As I didn’t want to risk the colour closing up Ambers eye by taking it all the way to the inner corner. I then placed a few individual false lashes to the outer third of her lash line to thicken her natural lashes and to elongate her eye.

I then used the green toned concealer from my palette and dabbed that on any redness. I then blended the foundation where needed and powdered as usual, I then used some bronzer to warm up the face, filled in her brows and applied mascara.

I finished off the look with the LA girl lip colour in blushing.

Sponge eyeshadow applicators

Hey everyone, lets talk about those little eyeshadow sponge applicators that come with our beloved eye shadows that we always chuck.

350966417471_1

Well stop right there because as I’ve found out recently, they are pretty handy.

I personally don’t like putting my fingers all over my cosmetics, I know some people like it and that it works for them (and there’s nothing wrong with that) I just personally try to avoid it wherever possible.

So when I was putting on my makeup and for whatever reason my usual brushes just weren’t really packing on the colour the way that I wanted, and I was about to succumb and use my finger to pack it on my eye lid. Until I saw this little guy in my brush role – brand new still in the plastic wrapping that it came in and boy oh boy am I glad I used it, because it works exactly the same as what my finger would have.

I just packed the colour on my brush and then pat the colour where I wanted, then blended it out using my usual blending brush.

so It just comes to show you that these little guys are useful!

Elf setting spray

I started out by placing the scotch tape following my lower lash line, I then primed my eyelid. I carved out my crease with the matte brown shadow from my elf palette and blended upwards as my transition colour. I then pat the matte grey shade from the same palette all over my lid, then mixing black shades from both the elf and Chi Chi palette I started smoking out the colours until it was as dark as I wanted it. I went back with the brown from my elf palette and blended out the black and grey.

I finished off my eye look with the lightest champagne colour from the Chi Chi palette under my brow and to blend out the brown and black so the eye shadow is seamless, Lined my waterline with the black eyeliner pencil and blended the black eye shadow from the Chi Chi Palette on my waterline. I then added a cat eyeliner &  Ardell 120 lashes.

To complete the whole look I opted for a more full coverage foundation and buffed that into my skin I then used the concealer under my eyes and filled in my eyebrows. After I let the cream products sink into my skin I powdered my face and added a deep contour, blush and my lipstick combo.

I finished with Elfs makeup setting spray.
