OXX Makeup review

He everyone, today I’m back with a review on the OXX makeup found in Kmart Australia stores.

Photo 19-03-2015 1 07 49 pm

While out browsing the makeup section in Kmart (as you do) something caught my eye, it was a stand filled with makeup with a $2 price tag, my legs started moving and before I could even register what I was seeing I had walked out the store with more makeup than I needed. (let’s be real, I always need more makeup)

Since we are transitioning into colder weather just like with fashion, make-up changes as well. So I’ve been looking for some warm toned blush and was thrilled to see some warmer neutrals on display. I picked up a blush and eyeshadow (because why not?)  both for $2.

Photo 19-03-2015 1 10 15 pm

Eye shadow left – The eyeshadow is a really nice brown shade with little flecks of gold glitter through it, which once on the eye you don’t really see. It’s really pretty and is nicely pigmented.

I used this all over the eye on it’s own and it lasted really well throughout the day.

Blush right – The blush is a pretty dusty pink that throws off a little taupe in different lighting.

It does take a little more time to blend and layer to get a nice colour pay off but that didn’t really worry me given the price point.

Unfortunately neither of these products have ‘names’ so if you do go searching for the same products I think these may be the only neutral shades available.

OXX brand also has eyeliner, mascaras, lipsticks and other shadow shades all for $2 each.

Over all I think that these are worth taking a look at if you’re looking to try a cheap makeup alternative to the usual cult favourites.

Have you tried OXX makeup, what did you think? let me know in the comments.

Styling A Tube Skirt

Hey everyone, today I’m back with how I style a tube skirt for Summer.

Photo 25-01-2015 7 49 17 pm

Photo via Polyvore – Styled by me.

Today i’ve styled two outfits that I think could take you from lunch with friends, to dinner and drinks easily. I’ve stayed within a very clean monochromatic palette which I think is perfect, as a tube skirt can be worn time and time again and can quickly become a staple piece.

Here I’ve paired both skirts with a cami style top which I think pairs perfectly, but could of course be paired however you want. A simple black crop top or a turtle neck tucked in would look lovely for the colder months.

I am absolutely loving these looks for any occasion, they’re effortlessly chic and feminine and the best part is that you could achieve this look without breaking the bank, Here are some on asos.com.au that are lovely and affordable.

Would you wear these outfits? let me know in the comments.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Review

Hi everyone, today I’m back with a review on the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector highlight.

Photo 20-01-2015 6 23 15 pm

I bought this when I went to Sephora while on holidays and I am absolutely loving it! I have the shade moonstone and it is such a pretty soft gold shade that I find is perfect for all occasions.

I use this most days for work and also just out and about and find it gives such a lift to the cheeks and brows (or anywhere you put it really)

Photo 20-01-2015 6 25 59 pm

I bought it for I think it was $40 AUD, which is only $2 more than what it costs in the US! and definitely think its worth the money and really want to pick up rose gold, which is another gorgeous shade that was sold out at the time.

It is currently my favourite highlight and is just too easy to pop on and go!

have you tried out this highlight? let me know what you think in the comments.

close up eye

I started out by brushing fawn all over my lid as a base and blended camel into my crease, I then used the deep teal shade to map out where I wanted my wing to be. I used a small synthetic brush and in small sections I dabbed on lash glue, and using a wet small brush I picked up the green glitter and placed it on the glue, I did this until the wing was covered in the green glitter. (You could use a black liner to map out the wing, but I found that using a similar shade to the glitter you’re using just means that if you do see any of the shadow/liner, it will blend in)

I took a little bit of the teal, and the dark brown shade and blended that on my lower lash line and prepped my lashes for falsies. For this look I used my biggest and most dramatic lashes, but to make this look a little more wearable you could use a wispy lash.

I buffed in my foundation, and filled in my brows as usual and contoured my cheeks, I then used a muted rose blush shade, and a rose gold highlight to finish off my skin. I kept my skin very neutral as I wanted most of the attention on my eyes. I finished off my look with a a bright red glossy lip using Limecrimes retrofuturist all over and dabbing the LA girl glazed lip paint in the center.

Australis AC On Tour Contour Kit Review

Hey everyone, today I’m back with a review on the highly sought after Australis Contour Kit.

Photo 5-12-2014 4 27 26 pm

In this kit you get six shades a lighter shade, a yellow toned shade a champagne highlighter and 3 darker sculpting shades all in rather large pans.

Photo 5-12-2014 4 28 37 pm

Let me start out by saying that these powders are so buttery and blend out like a dream, considering the price point for this product I wasn’t expecting it to be as great as it is!

Photo 5-12-2014 4 23 30 pm

To contour my face I use a Real Techniques contour brush and a large powder brush.

Using the large powder brush I dust the yellow shade under my eyes to brighten the area and then use the contour brush, the medium and darkest shades in the hollows of my cheeks, temple, forehead and the left over is dusted on my jawline.

The effect is a beautiful natural shadow that makes your face look more defined and put together. I find that I am able to get a great effect using this palette with and without foundation underneath.

For the hotter days I finish my look off with a dusting of bronzer and a bright blush over my cheeks to really amp it up.

This palette is sold in Priceline for $16.95 AUD and they sell like hotcakes so make sure you ring your local store to make sure they have them or order online.

Have you tried out this palette, do you like it? let me know in the comments.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Review

Hi everyone, today I’m back with a review on the Garnier micellar cleansing water.
Photo 22-11-2014 8 43 15 pm

I’ve seen a few reviews on this product, but like with most things I wanted to trial it myself.

Here’s what Garnier say

For the 1st time by Garnier, Micellar technology is introduced in an all-in-one cleanser. Micells are an active cleansing ingredient which act as a magnet to capture impurities, make-up and sebum on the skin without vigorous rubbing. The result? Perfectly cleansed and refreshed skin without vigorous rubbing or rinsing. A soothing formula without perfume to suit all skin types, even sensitive. Micellar Cleansing Water’s 400mL format corresponds to 200 applications (on a cotton pad).

Ophthalmologically and dermatologically tested.

This stuff is amazing! it should be called miracle water instead because it takes off every scrap of makeup without stinging your face. I use this on a cotton pad after I’ve taken off my makeup with a wipe I let it sit on my eye to get off any stubborn mascara or liner. You can literally swipe once and it will all come off.

I then will use another cotton pad and just wipe it over my face to get off any foundation as well. I will then cleanse as normal.

I’ve heard that the Micellar water is a dupe for the Bioderma, well I can tell you that in Australia Bioderma will set you back about $39 AUD and the Micellar water is about $11 AUD on sale at Priceline now for $8.39 AUD. I can’t comment on the Bioderma but for the price you just can’t go wrong with this gem.

Strawberry Kisses

Hi everyone, today I’m back with another DIY!

I was browsing different clothing websites (as I do) and came across some really cool printed lip jeans and fell in love. unfortunately they cost an arm and a leg to buy and get sent to Australia. I was really grumpy until I figured that I could probably make them myself without the large price tag.

And voilà, here they are!

IMG_0131

Here’s what you’ll need

100% cotton jeans

Printable transfer paper

Scissors

Iron

This is a great DIY for some old faded worn in jeans, or some new ones like mine. I picked up a pair of jeans from factorie for $20 and got the transfer paper from Lincraft for $24. I only used one sheet of paper for this tutorial so all up the jeans cost me about $20.41 AUD.

Now what you need to do is basically follow the instructions on the transfer paper to a T! I really wanted to skip steps and wait less time, but to make sure they turn out right, follow the instructions.

start out by finding a print that you like, I knew I wanted to do lips so I did a quick google search and found some that I thought would look good, I then altered them and got them to the right size.

The template that I made can be downloaded here.

make sure that you cut really close to your picture so you don’t get a white border!

IMG_0087IMG_0111

You could also put all different text on your clothes if you wanted something really different. I think that would look good on an acid wash denim jacket for a real grunge look.

Do you like this idea, would you try it out? if you do, be sure to tag me on all social media @Paintedlipstick
